Homeschooling Tips During This Pandemic

The current Covid-19 scenario has turned the whole world upside down. This pandemic has created a challenging and confusing situation for everyone. But more than that, it has created a strange natural experiment in the education field—parents who would have never taken their children out of school, now feel desperate enough to try it. They have taken the responsibility of schooling their children upon themselves, which is actually an excellent step in this pandemic.

If you are also someone looking forward to homeschool your kid, here are some tips that you can follow during this pandemic.

1.Create a plan
You obviously cannot recreate the exact school environment but can keep your children focused by developing a proper routine. Children follow a fixed schedule in their school and so creating the same environment will make the transition easy for them. To create a timetable and stick to it.

2.Keep teaching yourself
When you share your child’s curiosities, you will be able to teach them better. So try to learn something new every day with your child. Instead of being the stern teacher, play the role of a facilitator. Make sure to be always there to supervise your child and supplement their lesson plans. Dive into a subject together and keep asking questions. Step into the learner’s shoes and let your child do the teaching.

3.Add the recess time
Just because your child is homeschooling doesn’t mean they don’t need breaks. The pandemic has already restricted their physical activity and so they cannot indulge in any sports but you can still make exercise a part of their routine. Turn on the music and shake a leg together.

Homeschooling may require a lot of patience, dedication, and hard work, but it is still better than traditional schooling, especially in this pandemic. Add in more interesting things like high school science for homeschool to let your kid understand their interests.
